SO TRUE, Amy... I have a friend who regularly says, "Comparison Kills Contentment" and she's SO right. As moms we should be helping each other, NOT comparing one another! :)

Beautiful post Jenn. My kids are still young but I already look back at some things and wish I did it differently. But in the same breath I know that I am doing the best that I can and I am raising two AMAZING children. I think we compare ourselves too often in all facets of life. Sometimes this can give us perspective but most of the time it is just unhealthy!

GREAT post!! I once told my teacher in India how the elderly frequently go into nursing homes and she was literally disgusted. She explained how an entire family, in laws and extended family as well, live together there. I am thankful to say my mom just put her place on the market to live by us, and I am so grateful.

We are enjoying all these benefits since my in-laws moved onto our property with their RV this past February. I was worried about some of the potential negatives, but it has been a wonderful experience for everyone -- mostly for the children and my in-laws, to be able to have each other. Any negatives are far outweighed by the benefits. I am really happy our kids (and my in-laws) get to enjoy this experience. :)

Very interesting article!! I grew up in albeit very different surroundings, a similar home where we thought the best place in the world was outside! So I feel that it has only been natural to share the excitement for being outside with Ezra.
I wish we had the woods behind our house, or even regular mud puddles to be splashed in, but for now the small pile of dirt for digging, wood for stacking, and balls for kicking make our backyard pretty exciting.
It has been interesting (and even difficult at times) to meet so many other moms in Tucson who have different feelings about the outdoors. "48 degrees is too cold to play outside", "it's too windy", "it's too hot", ....
I find that playing outside is great for mama sanity, and when Ezra plays with other kids outside they are sooo entertained that they could care less about us talking, which is not the case when we are inside.
Thanks for this article...it's a great reminder to keep spending lots of time outdoors...no matter the amount of baths and loads of laundry that it creates! :)
